How I fell in love with photography

long story short...

02

I began my business in 2020, but when I think about it — my love for photography began years and years ago, with my dad’s polaroid in my hands as a little girl.

There was nothing I loved to do more than comb through the photographs he’d take. I was fascinated by the way a single photo could encapsulate the entirety of a moment, a feeling, a memory… and the power it had to travel me back in time whenever I needed to revisit that love, laughter, and warmth one more time. This began a love affair between photos and I, and sparked my lifelong quest to freeze moments in time. I think it is the most incredible thing in the world that I get to create this magic for people every day, and tell your stories through photographs.

Why I believe in the magic of photography:

My dad's box of photos.

Almost so full the lid would get stuck. Decades of memories on yellowing images, instant polaroids, disposable film faded light leaks. Stories of old friends. grandparents I’d never meet. Adventures out west so cool they should be on a film screen. the french fries + strawberry shake he bought my mom on their first date. my siblings and the family dog. all of us blowing out candles on birthday cakes each year. the identical photo of us all smooshed under the tree every single Christmas. his artifacts of moments from countless years. the big. the ordinary. every small moment in between. so he could visit them and us in any time and any distance. the evidence of him and the things he loved and the life he fully lived.

I do it because he taught me how.
I didn’t know it then, but I know it now.
I do it because I want to be like him.

I do it because I want you
to have a box so full, too.

When I'm not behind the camera photographing love stories, you can likely find me: sitting in the sun with my current favorite book, finding some body of water to swim in, snuggling my 3 pups; planning the next trip I will run away on, getting lost somewhere with my husband out in nature and sipping on a latte.

I believe I know how to capture love in others, because of the love story in my own life. I am married to my best friend in the world, who shows me every day what unwavering love looks like. We eloped in 2019 at a dreamy treehouse on a little island off of Charleston, South Carolina. He makes every day so much better, and is a huge reason I have to thank for me actually picking up my first “big girl camera”. You may even see him second shooting for me at your wedding ;)
